目前面子書不會自動刪除過世使用者的帳號，只會在獲得用戶指示後，將帳號設為紀念帳號。使用者也可預先安排代理人，提供其帳號密碼，讓代理人可以在自己過世後，輸入密碼，將帳號永久刪除。
面子書在全球擁有15億用戶，到了本世紀末可能成為全球最大的虛擬墳場。
美國麻州大學統計博士候選人薩迪基（Hachem Sadikki）估計，由於面子書拒絕自動刪除過世使用者的帳號，新使用者增加數目又出現停滯，到了2098年時，已故使用者人數將會超過在世使用者，屆時面子書可能會成為全球最大的虛擬墳場。
